About
OJ-UFFC will draw on the expert technical community to continue IEEE’s commitment to publishing the most highly-cited content. The editor-in-chief is the distinguished Ömer Oralkan, North Carolina State University. Our goal is to publish quickly—the rapid peer review process is targeting a publication time frame of 10 weeks for most accepted papers. This journal is fully open and compliant with funder mandates, including Plan S.
Author Information and Instructions
UFFC Society is committed to supporting authors and researchers with IEEE Author Tools, including the IEEE Publication Recommender, IEEE Graphics Analyzer, LaTeX Analyzer and more. Discover the tools available at the IEEE Author Center.
Review Process
The articles in this journal are peer-reviewed in accordance with the requirements set forth in the IEEE Publication Services and Products Board Operations Manual. Each published article was reviewed by a minimum of two independent reviewers using a single-blind peer-review process, where the identities of the reviewers are not known to the authors, but the reviewers know the identities of the authors. Articles will be screened for plagiarism before acceptance , and any suspected or confirmed cases will be handled in accordance with the PSPB Operations Manual procedure, which involves formal review, possible rejection, and reporting to IEEE for further action.
General Editor Selection and Conflict-of-Interest Policies for Special Issues
To ensure fairness and quality, the lead General Editor (GE) for a Special Section is selected from the Associate Editors (AEs) when possible, and two additional GEs are recruited based on complementary expertise and experience in peer review or editorial service. GEs are not involved in the review or decision-making process for their own submissions.
Article Processing Charge (APC):
To ensure the long-term sustainability of the IEEE Open Journal of Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control (OJ-UFFC), Article Processing Charges (APCs) are being introduced in a phased approach beginning in October 2025. This model aligns with IEEE’s open-access publishing framework and supports the cost of maintaining a high-quality journal — including rigorous peer review, publication management, and long-term digital archiving.
APC Schedule
- From October 2025: $1,050 ( Regular APC price is $ 2,075.00 )
- From June 2026: $1,575 ( Regular APC price is $ 2,160.00 )
- From January 2027: $2,245 (full APC)
IEEE UFFC-S members receive a 5% discount on the prevailing APC rate.
Why APCs?
OJ-UFFC is a fully open-access journal — meaning your work is immediately and freely available to readers worldwide, with no paywalls or subscription barriers.
IEEE and the UFFC Society do not profit from APCs. The collected fees are used exclusively to:
- Cover the costs of professional peer-review management, editorial support, and article production
- Maintain secure long-term digital preservation and global accessibility
- Support broader Society initiatives that advance research and community programs within the field
OJ-UFFC continues to offer a reduced, introductory APC rate during this transition period as we phase in the full structure over time.
The UFFC Society is regarded as a trusted and unbiased source of technical information for dialogue and collaboration to advance technology within the computing community. The UFFC Society is led by researchers and technology professionals who are at the center of respected Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control communities where readers and authors already come together.
Open Access allows authors to publish in respected, high-quality traditional journals while also complying with new open-access policies. IEEE makes the transition clear for authors by providing three options:
- Hybrid Journals
- Fully Open Access Topical Journals
- Multidisciplinary Open Access Journal (IEEE Access)
Supported by author publication fees, all of our open access journals will utilize the same high standard of peer review for all content submitted. In addition, IEEE’s open access multidisciplinary journal (IEEE Access) and fully open access topical journals will draw on technical communities for peer reviewers, to apply the same care as for any new IEEE journal and ensure the best possible papers are being published. Additionally, publishing within the IEEE Open Access program allows for:
- Multimedia integration (video abstracts, etc.);
- Each published article is accompanied by usage and citation data.
- The advantage of being published by IEEE, whose journals are trusted, respected, and rank among the most highly cited.
- Vast global reach to millions who search IEEE Xplore, attend conferences, and conduct research in all technology sectors;
- All published articles will be maintained in the IEEE archive with free access to all.
