The major goal of the UFFC-S Ultrasonics Standing Committee (USSC) is to encourage and assist the development of technical activities related to Ultrasonics within UFFC-S and promote the Society as a focal point of these activities.

The major goal of the UFFC-S Ultrasonics Standing Committee (USSC) is to encourage and assist the development of technical activities related to Ultrasonics within UFFC-S and promote the Society as a focal point of these activities.

The USSC is responsible for selecting schedules, dates and locations for the annual IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS) for approval by the UFFC-S Administrative Committee (AdCom). USSC shall select a Symposium Chair or Co-Chairs for each Symposium, and ensure that all preparations for the Symposium progress satisfactorily and in a timely manner. USSC shall support the IUS Organizing Committee where needed.

The USSC activities also include education, such as the organization of workshops, tutorials, special topic schools, and topical sessions on Ultrasonics at other IEEE conferences.

The USSC is also responsible for administering awards given by the Committee, including the Rayleigh Award, IEEE Carl Hellmuth Hertz Ultrasonics Award, and IEEE Ultrasonics Early Career Investigator Award.

Another important goal of USSC is to promote diversity and awareness of the ultrasonics-related areas. We have special USSC efforts to increase women members and participation from underrepresented countries and populations. We welcome collaboration with other technical areas and committees on these efforts.
