To keep you up-to-date on IEEE UFFC Society news while still respecting your e-mail in-boxes, the newsletter team continuously up-dates information in the News section of the IEEE UFFC-S website and will not send out more than two newsletter bulletins per year.

A newsletter bulletin is being sent out to celebrate the very special launch of the new IEEE UFFC-S website. It provides highlights of a few events from the past months linked to the website. Further details and much more news can be found on the website.

I would like you to meet the newsletter team who will be working to get news onto the website as events occur throughout the year. If you have any society-related information to share please let one of us know.

Newsletter Editor for Ultrasonics

Sandy Cochran is Professor of Ultrasound Materials and Systems and leads Medical and Industrial Ultrasonics at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. His research focuses on devices for medical ultrasound, particularly for minimally invasive deployment at high spatial resolution. Outside work, he spends his time in the bosky West End of Glasgow, Scotland.

Newsletter Editor for Ferroelectrics

Iaroslav Gaponenko is currently a research and teaching assistant in the Department of Quantum Matter Physics at the University of Geneva in Geneva, Switzerland. He is also a research affiliate with the G.W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA, USA. As part of the ISAF organizing committee for 2017, he is looking forward to providing play-by-play coverage of the meeting and other society news throughout the year.

Newsletter Editor Frequency Control

Sheng-Shian Li is a professor in the Institute of NanoEngineering and MicroSystems (iNEMS) at the National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan. His research interests focus on nano/microelectromechanical systems, integrated resonators and sensors, RF MEMS, CMOS-MEMS technology, front-end communication architectures, and integrated circuit design and technology. He served as the local organizing committee chair in the 2014 IFCS and TPC vice chair (Group 1) in the 2016 IFCS, respectively.

S. Lori Bridal is a research director in the French National Research Center working in the Laboratory of Biomedical Imaging at the University Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris, France. Her research develops ultrasound-based techniques to evaluate tumor microstructure and function, and she works to integrate image-based information into the therapeutic decision-making process. She is Vice-Chair of the Medical Ultrasonics Technical Program Committee group for the International Ultrasonics Symposium in 2017. The enthusiastic input from the newsletter team and IEEE UFFC-S members are the key ingredients to making the web-based newsletter a fun and stimulating forum for professional communication and networking in the IEEE UFFC-S.
