Sidney Lang (SM'99) received a petroleum refining engineer degree from the Colorado School of Mines in 1956 and a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley in 1962. He entered academia as an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at McGill University, Montreal, Canada from 1968 to 1973. He has been a Professor of Chemical Engineering at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer Sheva, Israel since 1973. His research interests are in applications of pyroelectricity and piezoelectricity, and electrical properties of biological materials. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE, a member of the American Physical Society and a member of the Russian Academy of Engineering Science. He is an Associate Editor of several journals: IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control; Ferroelectrics; and Ferroelectrics Letters. He is the Departmental Academic Advisor of the Department of Applied Physics, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong.
