Join the OJ-UFFC Editorial Team – Calls for Deputy and Associate Editors
Associate Editors
Associate Editors play a major role in IEEE OJ-UFFC’s peer review process. They are expected to diligently execute the following operational tasks:
- Manage the peer review process of at least 8 OJ-UFFC manuscripts over a 12-month rolling period (with 1-2 active assignments on average)
- Ensure quality and expediency of each review by conducting a prescreening exercise, recruiting peer reviewers, making editorial recommendations, and drafting editorial remarks.
- Maintain active status as an OJ-UFFC reviewer and support the editorial work of other Associate Editors by serving as a dependable reviewer on their assigned manuscripts whenever help is solicited
- Participate in and/or lead special sections and other initiatives of interest for OJ-UFFC
Eligibility Criteria
Interested candidates should have at least 5 years of experience as full-time independent academic, industrial technical specialist, or technical leader within a government organization. Regardless of their professional background, candidates are required to have a track record of contributions as a reviewer for OJ-UFFC and/or T-UFFC and other journals.

Selection Criteria
Candidates will be reviewed by a selection committee comprising the OJ-UFFC Editor-in-Chief, VP Publications of the UFFC Society, and experienced Associate Editors who have served in the editorial boards of UFFC journals. Selection will be done based on multiple criteria, including the candidate’s track record of contributions to UFFC journals, evidence of peer review quality, and the candidate’s demonstrated commitment to serving UFFC journals.
Selection Appointment Process
Based on the recommendation of the selection committee, the Editor-in-Chief will contact shortlisted candidates and arrange an initial meeting with them in January 2026 to provide detailed information on the responsibilities, expectations, and guidelines of OJ-UFFC editorial work. Upon establishing mutual consensus on the service expectations, a formal appointment letter will be issued. OJ-UFFC Associate Editor appointments are renewable once for a second term of no longer than 3 years. Such renewal will be subject to the editor’s track record of contributions to OJ-UFFC and the journal’s prevailing submission trends at the time of renewal.
Deputy Editors
Deputy Editor is a new position established to engage more closely with the technical areas of Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control. The Deputy Editors are expected to:
- Solicit submissions to OJ-UFFC in their technical areas
- Organize special sections focusing on hot topics in their technical areas
- Uphold the ethical standards of the Journal by addressing potential conflicts of interest and investigating allegations of misconduct like plagiarism or data fabrication.
- Manage the review of submitted manuscripts in their technical areas by
- Evaluating initial submissions to determine if they are within the journal's scope.
- Assigning manuscripts to Associate Editors.
- Ensuring the timely and thorough review of papers.
- Reviewing the quality of feedback from Associate Editors and reviewers.
- Making recommendations for a decision on the manuscripts
