Body
The IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, & Frequency Control Society (UFFC-S) is one of 23 member societies in the IEEE Nanotechnology Council (NTC), a multi-disciplinary group working to support the theory, design, and development of nanotechnology and its scientific, engineering, and industrial applications. The UFFC-S President appointed two members to represent the UFFC-S in the NTC: Oluwaseyi (Seyi) Balogun. Northwestern University, and Lidai Wang, City University of Hong Kong. The NTC has approximately ~14000 participants, with 29 Chapters and 14 Student Chapters around the world. The Distinguished Lecturer Program is an important feature of the Council. Information on how to request talks by NTC Distinguished Lecturers can be found here. Also, stay tuned for a new and improved TryNano.org!Publications
NTC has several publications and an e-newsletter. The IEEE Transactions on Nanotechnology (T-NANO) publishes novel and important results in engineering at the nanoscale. Accepted papers are published on the web as soon as they are submitted in final form. The IEEE Open Journal of Nanotechnology (OJ-NANO) covers the theory, design, and development of nanotechnology and its scientific, engineering, and industrial applications. The OJ-NANO publishes novel and important engineering and scientific results at the nanoscale. Visit the OJ-NANO website for information on the editorial board, special issues, and how to get your contribution published. The IEEE Nanotechnology Magazine (INM) publishes peer-reviewed articles that present emerging trends and practices in industrial electronics product research and development, key insights, and tutorial surveys in the field of interest to the member societies of the IEEE Nanotechnology Council, but pitched to a more general nanotechnology reader than in the research journals. IEEE Nanotechnology Newsletter provides information on NTC publications, conferences, events, and developments in nanotechnology and applications.
Conferences
Due to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic, several of the IEEE NTC Conferences were impacted. See below for a status update:IEEE-NANO (IEEE International Conference on Nanotechnology)
- Considering the present circumstances related to COVID-19, the Conference Committee of the IEEE Nanotechnology Council and the Montreal organizers of the 20th IEEE International Conference on Nanotechnology 2020 (IEEE NANO 2020) decided jointly that IEEE NANO 2020 must convert to an all-virtual format held on 29-31 July 2020. See the website for details.
- The physical NANO 2020 conference in Montreal is now moved to 2021 and becomes the 21st IEEE International Conference on Nanotechnology (IEEE NANO 2021) to be held on 28-30 July 2021. Abstracts previously submitted to IEEE NANO 2020 (Montreal) and not presented at the virtual NANO 2020 will be transferred to the NANO 2021, for which an additional call for papers will be open 15 November 2020 – 31 January 2021. Look for further information on their website at 2021.ieeenano.org, which will go live according to tradition at the conclusion of NANO 2020.
- NANO 2021 planned in Majorca is postponed to 2022.
- NANO 2023 will be held on Jeju Island, South Korea.
IEEE-NMDC (IEEE Nanotechnology Materials and Devices Conference)
- For the best interests of the public health safety and conference experience and in view of the continuing uncertainty from the COVID-19 pandemic, we are announcing that IEEE NMDC 2020 planned on 18-21 October in Nanjing, China will be postponed to 2022 (e.g. become NMDC 2022) on 16-19 October 2022, still in Nanjing. See the website for announcements.
- In place of NMDC 2020, we will be organizing a virtual event in October. Details will be announced.
- NMDC 2021, collocated with CEIDP 2021, is to be held at the Pinnacle Harbourfront Hotel, 17-20 October 2021, in Vancouver, Canada.
IEEE NEMS (IEEE International Conference on Nano/Micro Engineered and Molecular Systems)
- IEEE-NEMS 2020 has been converted to an all-virtual format from 27-30 September. More information is available on the website.
IEEE-NANOMED (IEEE International Conference on Nano/Molecular Medicine and Engineering)
- IEEE-NANOMED 2020 scheduling for November is being evaluated. See the website for more information.
IEEE NAP (IEEE International Conference on Nanomaterials: Applications & Properties)
- NAP-2020 will be held virtually on 9-13 November 2020, Additional information can be found on their website.
- NAP-2021 will be located in Odesa, Ukraine on 5-10 September 2021.
IEEE 3M-NANO (International Conference on Manipulation, Manufacturing and Measurement on the Nanoscale)
- 3M-NAN0 2020 has been postponed to 2021
- 3M-NANO 2021 will be held on 2-6 August 2020 in Xi'An, China. See additional details here.
