The third Administrative Committee (AdCom) meeting for 2020 was held prior to the IEEE UFFC IUS 2020 on September 5th, 2020.

Paul Reynolds, President of IEEE UFFC-S 2020-21, led the meeting. The main focus was the recent impact on the Society’s symposia and finances due to COVID-19. The Society is in good financial health and work continues to maintain a healthy budget and best manage the impact of the pandemic. Financial stability and value to members are key points within the strategic plan of UFFC-S.

Recent initiatives were underlined including an increase in publicity and communication with our members, engagement with our industry partners, and the creation of a virtual lecturer series. The AdCom approved the AdHoc committee of Diversity & Inclusion to become a Standing Committee. Other key topics discussed were:

  • Approval of ISAF 2025 being held in Graz, Austria with Hana Uršič and Marco Deluca as General Co-Chairs.
  • UFFC being a founding member of the IEEE Transactions on Quantum Engineering.
  • The infrastructure for the Open Journal of Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control (OJ-UFFC) is underway. Advertising for the EiC for OJ-NANO will be forthcoming.
  • Transactions on UFFC has several special issues open, and recruitment for an EiC elect is in process.

The Student Representatives were highlighted during the meeting for their excellent job at creating engaging networking events during this year’s online conferences. The president thanked outgoing AdCom Members for their service to the Society.
