It is with great pleasure that we announce that Professor Ömer Oralkan will become the Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of the newly launched Open Journal of Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control (OJ-UFFC).  Professor Oralkan has extensive editorial experience as an Associate Editor of the Transactions on UFFC from 2012 and serving as Guest Editor for IEEE Sensors Journal 2019 and IEEE Transaction on Biomedical Circuits and Systems 2019. Further distinguished service to the UFFC Society has been demonstrated through leadership roles within the IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium as Technical Programme Committee (TPC) Member (2008-present), TPC Group-V Co-Chair/Chair (2013-2021) and Technical Programme Co-Chair (2020).

The Open Journal of Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control is fully compliant with Open Access (OA) funder mandates including Plan S. The goal is to publish quickly—the rapid peer review process is targeting a publication time frame of 10 weeks for most accepted papers. Through 2021 the OA article processing charges of $1750 will be waived. The manuscript central submission site is now open and invites your submissions https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/oj-uffc . IEEE OJ-UFFC is recruiting Associate Editors to join the Editorial Board. Individuals interested to serve on the Editorial Board should contact the EiC at (Click to show email). We encourage applications from researchers with a background in the whole range of subject areas covered by the UFFC Society. Individuals who are committed to open access, data sharing and innovation in scientific publishing are encouraged to apply. Experience with manuscript review and an established publication record (e.g., >20 research papers published in reputable peer-review journals) are required. The members of the Editorial Board are expected to support the journal’s ethos, scope, editorial standards, and policies, as well as the authors by ensuring that manuscripts, for which they are responsible, fulfill the requirements of the journal and are handled efficiently and appropriately through peer-review. An Associate Editor is primarily responsible for assessing manuscripts for their suitability for peer review, selecting suitable reviewers who meet the journal’s requirements, and recommending decisions on the basis of the reports provided by the peer reviewers as well as their own assessment while adhering to the journal’s editorial policies.
