Feng-Lei Hong is a Professor at the Department of Physics, Graduate School of Engineering Science, Yokohama National University in Japan. In 1994, he joined the National Research Laboratory of Metrology (NRLM), now named the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Tsukuba, Japan, where he was a Division Director. He has been the Chairperson of the Working Group on Coordination of the Development of Advanced Time and Frequency Transfer Techniques of the Consultative Committee for Time and Frequency (CCTF) under the International Committee for Weights and Measures (CIPM). His current research interests include high-resolution laser spectroscopy, laser frequency stabilization, optical frequency standards, optical frequency measurement, and ultrafast optics. He has been awarded the Optics and Quantum Electronics Achievement Award by The Japan Society of Applied Physics and the Prize for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology in Japan.
