Sleiman R. Ghorayeb is Professor of Biomedical and Electrical Engineering, and Professor of Radiology and Molecular Medicine at the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine, and Investigator in the Center for Immunology and Inflammation and at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research at Northwell Health. He is the director of the Ultrasound Research Lab at Hofstra. His research focuses primarily on theoretical and experimental studies in therapeutic and diagnostic ultrasound. He maintains strong collaborations at the international and domestic levels. He led the development of new techniques and procedures in tissue characterization and stem cell stimulation in the fields of Dentistry with the School of Dentistry at the University of Birmingham, UK, and in Ophtalmology with the Ophtalmic Institute in Spain. At the domestic level, he maintains well-established research practices with the departments of Orthopaedics, Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine at Northwell Health Hospital in Manhasset, NY. Dr. Ghorayeb is the recipient of many research- and teaching-related awards such as Hofstra’s 2019 Research Mentor of the year award, IEEE’s Athanasios Papoulis Award, Iowa State University Research and Teaching Excellence Awards, and Hofstra’s Presidential Research Award and Faculty Research and Development Grant. In addition, Dr. Ghorayeb is a Fellow of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, an International Fellow of the British Royal Society of Medicine, a Senior Member of the IEEE, an Invited Member of the Eta Kappa Nu Honor Society, and an Invited Member of the Honorary Scientific Research Society Sigma Xi.
