After graduation from Ecole Supérieure d'Optique in 1990, Vincent Laude obtained a PhD in Optics and Photonics from Université Paris-Sud (1994) and the habilitation from Université de Franche-Comté (2002). He was a researcher at the Corporate Research Laboratory of Thomson-CSF from 1995 to 1999, working on optical signal processing, and then at Thomson-CSF Microsonics in 2000, where he worked on the modelling of surface acoustic wave devices. He was hired by the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) in October 2000, first as a senior researcher then as a research director from 2006. He is presently the director of the MN2S research department. His research interests include acoustic and elastic wave propagation in micro & nano structures, especially in phononic crystals and metamaterials, and topological phononics. He is also studying spatially confined acousto-optical interactions, for instance inside phoxonic crystals and phoxonic fibers. Vincent Laude published more than 150 articles in peer-reviewed international journals. He is a member of IEEE/UFFC, SFP, and EPS. He is an associate editor for IEEE Transactions on UFFC and Applied Sciences. He is an IEEE/UFFC society representative to the steering committee of Journal of Lightwave Technology. He received the IEEE Carl Hellmuth Hertz Ultrasonics Award in 2016.
