Description

The IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control Society (UFFC-S) invites self-nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief (EiC) for the IEEE Open Journal of Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control. The EiC will lead the journal’s editorial vision, ensuring its continued growth as a high-impact, open-access publication in the field.

Position Description
The responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief include:
• Lead peer review for high-quality, timely publications (IEEE/UFFC-S standards).
• Set journal strategy (scope, goals) with AdCom.
• Manage editorial team (Associate/Guest Editors).
• Curate content: technical papers, reviews, special issues.
• Ensure compliance with IEEE policies (ethics, open access, archiving).
• Collaborate with VP (Publications), IEEE services, and vendors.

A desirable candidate may have:
• At least 5 years of experience in leadership or editorial roles (e.g., Associate Editor, Guest Editor, or equivalent) for peer-reviewed journals or conferences.
• Demonstrated a strong technical background in ultrasonics, ferroelectrics, frequency control, or a closely related field.
• Show a record of significant contributions to IEEE UFFC-S or similar organizations (e.g., publications, conference leadership, or committee service).
• Possess excellent organizational, communication, and team management skills.

All candidates must be a member in good standing of IEEE and UFFC-S.

Term
• Duration: 3 years, renewable once (maximum 6 years total), subject to AdCom approval.

Time Commitment:
• ~5–8 hours per week (varies with submission volume).
• Attendance at annual AdCom meetings (typically held in conjunction with UFFC-S symposia).
• Participation in the yearly Panel of Editors meeting.

Candidates should submit:
1. A self-nomination letter (max 1 page) highlighting all relevant qualifications.
2. A CV (including editorial experience and IEEE/UFFC-S involvement).
3. Optional: Up to two letters of support from UFFC-S members or IEEE peers familiar with the candidate’s work.
