Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Chair

The IEEE UFFC-S is seeking a passionate and visionary leader to serve as the Chair of the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Standing Committee (DEIC). This pivotal role offers an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the UFFC-S community, helping to foster an environment where all individuals feel valued and supported.

As the DEIC Chair, you will lead a committee that works closely with the Vice President of Community, Connection, & Diversity and a team of appointed members to guide the society in achieving equity at all levels. You will help ensure that barriers to equity—whether based on geography, race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or ability—are identified and addressed, both at the society level and within symposia.

Key responsibilities include:

• Encouraging diversity and inclusion in all UFFC-S activities and symposia.
• Ratifying and enforcing the IEEE Code of Conduct to ensure a safe, respectful environment for all members and participants.
• Appointing or ratifying diversity chairs for symposia.
• Establishing standardized reporting protocols for diversity-related data during symposia.
• Collaborating with the Membership & Data Analytics Committee to collect demographic data and assess diversity in organizing committees, speakers, attendees, and award nominees.
• Developing action plans to address gaps in diversity and enforce diversity measures when necessary.
• Presenting motions to the AdCom to further enhance diversity and inclusion efforts within the society.
