Lauren Wirtzfeld earned her B.A.Sc. degree in Engineering Science, Biomedical Engineering option, in 2003 from the University of Toronto, and her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Western Ontario in 2008 under the supervision of Dr. Aaron Fenster and Dr. James Lacefield. Dr. Wirtzfeld completed postdoctoral fellowships in the Bioacoustics Research Laboratory at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and in the Department of Physics at Ryerson University, in the area of quantitative ultrasound applications in cancer. She is currently a Senior Ultrasound Systems Developer at FujiFilm VisualSonics Inc working on high-frequency research ultrasound imaging technology.
