Kui YAO received his bachelor degree in electronics engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University in 1989, master degree in technical physics from Xidian University in 1992, and Ph.D. in electronic materials and devices from Xi'an Jiaotong University in 1995. He is currently a Principal Scientist, Institute of Materials Research & Engineering (IMRE), A*STAR (Agency for Science, Technology, and Research), Singapore, and an Adjunct Professor with Nanyang Technical University, Singapore. During 1998 - 1999, he worked in Materials Research Laboratory (MRL), The Pennsylvania State University, USA. Previously, he was a postdoctoral fellow in Microelectronics Center, NTU, during 1995-1997. His research areas cover smart materials, particularly dielectric, piezoelectric, and ferroelectric materials, and the sensors and transducers enabled with these materials, including their applications for structural and condition monitoring, ultrasonic and photoacoustic nondestructive testing and diagnosis, noise and vibration mitigation.
