The IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control Society (UFFC-S) is pleased to announce that Zuo-Guang Ye has been elected President-Elect for the 2026–2027 term. Following this term, he will serve as President of the Society from 2028–2029.

Dr. Ye is a Distinguished University Professor at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, and is internationally recognized for his contributions to ferroelectric and multifunctional materials. Born and raised in China, Dr. Ye brings a global perspective to his leadership and a deep commitment to expanding access, inclusion, and technical excellence across the Society.

A long-standing and highly engaged UFFC volunteer, Dr. Ye has been an active member of the Ferroelectrics Technical Standing Committee since 2006 and has served on the UFFC Administrative Committee (AdCom) since 2012. Since 2015, he has chaired the UFFC Standards Committee, overseeing the development and publication of three IEEE standards. He also led the working group that produced IEEE Std 1859-2017, the first IEEE standard on relaxor-based single crystals for transducer and actuator applications. His service to the Society spans numerous additional roles, including committees for Fellow evaluation, bylaws revision, nominations, outstanding paper awards, and ferroelectrics awards, as well as service as a guest editor for IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control

Dr. Ye’s research portfolio encompasses the design, synthesis, and characterization of ferroic materials for multifunctional applications, with major contributions in magnetoelectric materials, antiferroelectrics for energy storage, and halide perovskite single crystals for photovoltaics and optoelectronics. His work bridges fundamental science and applied technologies across all three UFFC technical areas—Ferroelectrics, Ultrasonics, and Frequency Control.

In his statement to the AdCom, Dr. Ye described UFFC-S as his “professional home” and emphasized his motivation to give back to a Society that has shaped his career. As President-Elect, he has expressed strong support for advancing the Society’s strategic and operational plans, expanding outreach to underserved regions, strengthening partnerships with other IEEE Societies, fostering affordable and accessible opportunities for students and early-career researchers, and enhancing cross-disciplinary collaboration to drive innovation.

The Society congratulates Dr. Ye on his election and looks forward to his leadership as President-Elect and, subsequently, as President of the IEEE UFFC Society.
