With an off-the-charts title “The Second Coming of Ultrasound”, WIRED® magazine underlined new frontiers for research in ultrasound therapy. Cutting-edge projects are cited that call upon ultrasound to treat tremors, heal wounds and deliver drugs. Of special note is the world’s first clinical trial to test effectiveness of ultrasonic blood-brain barrier disruption when treating Alzheimer’s patients - a study led by one the UFFC-S members elevated to IEEE Fellow in 2018, Professor Kullervo Hynynen, at Sunnybrook Research Institute,  Toronto, Ontario Canada.
