Three annual IEEE Ultrasonics awards were presented at the 2019 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium which was held in Glasgow, Scotland. The Awards Ceremony took place on October 7th, 2019 at the Scottish Event Centre (SEC), followed by a reception at the Glasgow Science Centre. The Rayleigh Award represents the highest honor for achievement within the UFFC Society in the field of Ultrasonics. The achievement may be in technical innovations, research, education, publications, and related professional endeavors. The winner of the 2019 Rayleigh Award is Jørgen Arendt Jensen, Technical University of Denmark, for pioneering developments and outstanding contributions to advances in ultrasound imaging”. Laudation for Jørgen A. Jensen was given by Peter A. Lewin, Drexel University. [caption id="attachment_7067" align="aligncenter" width="623"] Jørgen A. The award is specific to those researchers in the early stages of their career. The winner of the 2019 Early Career Investigator Award is Songbin Gong, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, for pioneering lithium niobite Lamb wave micro-acoustic devices for radio-frequency applications”. Laudation for Songbin Gong was given by Benjamin P. Abbott, Skyworks Solutions, Inc.
