IEEE UFFC Newsletter April 2026 – Special Session of IEEE UFFC at Journées RITS 2026 in Strasbourg, France
Highlights from the IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, & Frequency Control Society (UFFC-S) special session at Journées RITS 2026!
Held at the University of Strasbourg from April 20 to 22, 2026, the Journées RITS once again provided a dynamic and interactive environment fostering exchanges between researchers, engineers, and clinicians.
In this context, the French Chapter of the IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control Society organized a session dedicated to miniaturized biomedical sensors (Jean Cavaillès amphitheater), highlighting recent advances at the intersection of acoustics, microtechnologies, and medical applications.
The program of this session included:
- Guilhem Rival (INSA Lyon) - Development of a piezoelectric sensor to measure mitral valve coaptation force.
- Samuel Margueron (Université Marie et Louis Pasteur, SUPMICROTECH, FEMTO-ST Institute) - Review of ultrasonic techniques for wireless power transfer to implanted devices.
- Bruno Fain (CEA-Leti) - MEMS ultrasonic transducers for biomedical applications.
- Anam Bhatti (LabTAU, Inserm U1032) - Mapping physiological activity from passive biosensors using plane wave ultrasound imaging.
This session showcased the diversity of current approaches in miniaturized sensors and their key role in shaping next-generation medical technologies.
We also warmly thank Dr. Lori Bridal for chairing this session with expertise and enthusiasm.
Many thanks to all speakers for the quality of their presentations, as well as to the session sponsors, the IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control Society and IEEE France, and to the Journées RITS organizers for their warm welcome.
