Two symposia were held in the ferroelectric topical space in 2025: The International Symposium on the Applications of Ferroelectrics (ISAF) was held at the University of Graz, in Graz, Austria, in July, and the South Asia Ferroelectric Symposium (SAFS) was held at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India in August. ISAF was jointly organized with the Piezoresponse Force Microscopy meeting (PFM), International Symposium on Integrated Functionalities (ISIF), and the International Conference on Electroceramics (ICE). There were 469 registrations, 90 tutorial registrations, and the conference highlighted 12 “Featured Industry Talks.” SAFS is the first ferroelectrics-centric special initiatives conference held. It attracted over 200 registered participants. 48 of the speakers were from the host country of India, and 22 speakers were from other companies. The conference was sponsored by UFFC-S, the Indian Institute of Science, and 12 private sponsors. In addition, a FerroSchool was held in Oak Ridge, United States, in August with hands-on opportunities for students to learn piezoresponse force microscopy for characterizing ferroelectric materials.

Activities of the Ferroelectrics Standing Committee included formalizing a Fellows Nomination Committee for Ferroelectrics and selecting the organizing team and location of ISAF 2028, which will be in Groningen, Netherlands. Finally, significant progress has been made in completing the FerroMasters courses, which are lectures on the topics of ferroelectrics by world-leading experts. The lectures are available to all UFFC-S members on Catavault.
