Apply Now for the Lab-in-Fab PMUT Application Student Competition
Body
The Lab-in-Fab PMUT Application Student Competition invites student teams worldwide to push the boundaries of Piezoelectric Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducers. Presented by A*STAR IME, STMicroelectronics, and IEEE UFFC-S, this is your chance to bridge the gap between academic theory and industrial fabrication.
The Challenge
Propose a system-level PMUT application, from medical imaging to gesture sensing, with clear performance targets. The Top 5 teams will receive the hardware and funding needed to build a functional prototype.
Why Join?
- Receive custom PCBs and PMUT chips from A*STAR IME’s world-class 200mm pilot line.
- Access an IEEE UFFC-S micro-grant (up to USD 2,000) to fund your build.
- Present your final demo and receive your award at the IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS) 2026 in Raleigh, NC.
How It Works
- Submit a slide deck outlining your concept and budget by 30 April 2026.
- Selected teams receive a hardware kit and technical manual in June.
- Develop your system through August and undergo a final evaluation in September.
- Travel to IUS 2026 for the awards ceremony and global networking.
Who Can Apply?
- Teams of 1–3 students (BSc, MSc, or PhD).
- Must include a faculty advisor.
- Open to innovators worldwide.
