This year was the first year of the new Education Committee structure, with History, Education, Standards, and Special Topics Schools being consolidated under the new VP Education role (Holly Lay). Under this new structure, existing initiatives have continued, as well as the launch of new initiatives.
The Standards committee (Chair: Zuo-Guang Ye) has seen the successful approval of PAR1859 and are now leading regular working group meetings to develop this extension to standard 1859-2017 on Relaxor-Based Piezoelectric Single Crystal Materials for Transducer and Actuator Applications. The History committee (Chair: Jan Brown) are continuing to work on documenting the oral history of the society as well as archiving the activities in a future-proof manner.

This year saw 4 special topics schools in Queretaro, Mexico (Frequency Control, hosted by BIPM/SIM), Sèvres, France (Frequency Control, hosted by BIPM), Knoxville, TN, USA (Ferroelectrics), and Gandhinagar, India (Ultrasonics) offering highly specialized training and networking opportunities to members of the community. 2025 also saw the relaunch of the UFFC webinar series with 3 webinars this fall, co-sponsored by the Industrial Engagement, Volunteer Engagement, and WIE committees, with more webinars planned for 2026.
