2021 Spring USSC meeting

A virtual UFFC Ultrasonics Standing Committee (USSC) meeting was held on April 17, 2021. This was the first USSC meeting held by the new VP Ultrasonics, Zhen Xu (Professor at the University of Michigan). There was a total of 31 attendees, including 11 USSC voting members, 13 non-voting USSC members, and 7 invited guests. Issues discussed included the planning of the upcoming 2021 IUS and future International Ultrasonics Symposium, IUS, the Technical Program Committee (TPC) member selection process, online ultrasonics summer schools, ultrasonics webinars, the new UFFC Open Access journal, and gender and racial diversity improvement. Following discussion, the USSC has decided to open online UFFC ultrasonics summer school and educational webinars this year, headed by Weibao Liu and Adam Maxwell. In addition, the TPC standardization committee was formed to improve the standardization and diversity of Ultrasonics TPC groups. The committee co-chairs are Helen Mulvana and Jessica Liu Strohmann.
