2021 IEEE-UFFC Frequency Control Standing Committee (FCSC) Meeting

The first Frequency Control Standing Committee (FCSC) meeting in 2021 was held on May 11th, 2021 virtually on Zoom.  Dr. Ekkehard Peik, the Vice President for Frequency Control in the UFFC Society chaired the meeting. The main outcomes of the meeting were the following:

  • Eric Burt, the General Chair of IFCS-EFTF 2021, updated on conference preparation, budget planning, and the approach done for improving interaction using gather.town. Andrew Ludlow, the Technical Chair, went through the technical programs and statistics of paper submissions. John Vig brought up discussions to implement lower registration fee for attendees from low-income countries.
  • James Camparo, the Awards Chair, updated on the progress of Awards and mentioned the good diversity of nominees this year. The voting link will be sent out soon to voting members.
  • Gregory Weaver, the Editorial Chair, reported publication work, including a number of papers expected in the IFCS-EFTF 2021 proceedings, plagiarism check mechanism, …etc. Discussions on the definition of a prior publication rule had been brought up. Actions to discuss reformation of paper templates will follow.
  • Jérôme Lodewyck, the co-GC of the joint EFTF/IFCS 2022, reported the planning for the conference. While the conference currently is planned to be held in Paris, France, Jérôme brought up the potential issues and uncertainty regarding the Covid-19 situation. Discussion was held on the possibility of having hybrid format and how to make it easier to handle.
  • Tetsuya Ido reported the planning for the joint IFCS/EFTF/ATF 2023, Toyama, Japan, followed by Pai-Chi Li (recorded) reported the status of the Joint UFFC-wide Symposia 2024 in Taipei, Taiwan.
  • The meeting was wrapped up by Ekkehard with a remark on a new standing committee member vacancy and the wish to improve regional diversity of voting members from region 8-10.
