Roberto Lavarello is currently a professor in the Department of Engineering at the Universidad Católica del Perú. His research is focused on ultrasonic tissue characterization and image formation. He is an Associate Editor for the IEEE TUFFC and the IEEE TMI, and an editorial board member for the IEEE OA-JEMB. He is the IEEE EMBS R9 AdCom representative, the chair of the IEEE TMI and the the IEEE ISBI Steering Committees, the co-chair of the backscatter coefficient group of the the AIUM/QIBA PEQUS Biomarker committee. and a member of the IEEE EMBS BIIP and the IEEE SPS BISP Technical Committees and the IEEE IUS TPC.
