Compliance With NIH Public Access and IEEE Copyright Policies

Research which has received direct funding from the National Institutes of Health or has been performed by an NIH employee falls under the NIH Public Access Policy. As part of that policy, NIH requires that full versions of these papers be posted on PubMed Central.

IEEE’s policy on authors’ reposting of published manuscripts was changed in November 2010. As of January 2011, you may no longer repost the final published version of your manuscript. You may instead use the accepted, unedited, version of your manuscript, with the addition of an IEEE copyright notice, to meet the mandates of your funding agencies.

Information on the IEEE reposting policy may be found at http://www.ieee.org/publications_standards/publications/rights/index.html

An FAQ on the policy, including the text of the required copyright statement, may be found at http://www.ieee.org/documents/authorversionfaq.pdf
