Jian-yu Lu, 2014-2015 President

On behalf of Society members, I would like to thank Prof. Jian-yu Lu, the 2014-15 President of the Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control Society (UFFC-S), for the precise and orderly manner by which he steered the Society over the past two years.

The Society continued to thrive under Jian-yu’s leadership, with six successful symposia, important updates to our website, and advances in educational activities that include significant increases in student support funds for our symposia and a threefold increase in the number of UFFC-S Distinguished Lecturers. Thanks to advances made during Jian-yu’s tenure, we also now enjoy the use of technologies at our symposia that enable recording of presentations for subsequent dissemination on IEEE Xplore.

Jian-yu is far from finished, of course, as he will continue to serve the UFFC-S as the Nominations Chair and Junior Past President. He will also head a special committee to update the Society's ByLaws.

Jian-yu: Thanks for the super job! We wish you all the best.

Jackie Hines, 2012-2013 President

I would like to thank Jackie Hines, the 2012-2013 President of the IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control Society (UFFC-S), for her contributions during her tenure as President.

Under her leadership, the Society continues to thrive. In 2012, three successful symposia were held. In 2013, a joint conference to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the UFFC-S was held successfully in Prague, Czech Republic. The UFFC-S website got a major facelift.

The Society continues to maintain its healthy financial status and new technologies have been used in both the symposia and the Administrative Committee (AdCom) meetings.

Jackie will continue to serve the UFFC-S in different roles as the UFFC-S Nominations Chair and Junior Past President, 2014-2015. She will also be the Finance Chair of the 2014 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS).

Jackie, well done! On behalf of the UFFC Society, I wish you all the best.
